Originally known as the Thompson Drug Store, the building that is now home to Leona Drug Store dates to 1923 after a fire devastated the downtown area, including the original Thompson Drug Store building.

Over the years, the business closed and the building was eventually abandoned until 2008, when a Leona local named Donald House purchased the building and began the long process of restoring it to its 1920s appearance and layout. Don was nostalgic for the old Drug Store he had heard about growing up when he'd sit around with his father and the other old timers as they reminisced about growing up on the farm, riding into town on wagons on Saturdays, and spending their nickel apiece at the Drug Store.

The Drug Store serves period-appropriate classics like shakes, malts, phosphates, floats, banana splits, hot fudge, limeades, and sodas, all served exclusively from the soda fountain using recipes from old drug store publications.
