Lake Casa Blanca International State Park
Lake Casa Blanca International State Park sits in the historic border city of Laredo, where Buffalo Soldiers from the 9th Cavalry and 24th Infantry were stationed at nearby Fort McIntosh from the late 1800s into the early 1900s. They had a complicated job: patrolling the Rio Grande, protecting the city and its businesses from bandits and cross-border raids, and keeping things calm during times of revolution in Mexico. When you visit the park today, picture the soldiers who guarded this key border crossing and its unique community. Set up camp alongside the 1,680-acre reservoir, and then spend the day water-skiing, fishing, hiking, biking, birding, and relaxing in this beautiful park.
