Kreuz Market began in 1900 when Charles Kreuz Sr. purchased a meat market form Jesse Swearingen. In 1948 the Kreuz family sold the market to Edgar Schmidt, a long-time butcher at the restaurant. Kreuz Market has been owned and operated by a member of the Schmidt family ever since.
Kreuz Market is among the most well known and respected BBQ institutions in the state. It was designated a Texas Treasure Business in 2022.
