The house, built by George Howard in 1851, remained in the Howard Family from 1851 to 1961. It is an excellent example of Greek Revival architecture by James Bunda. The first three rooms were built in 1848, with each room having a fireplace and an exit. The remainder of the house, including the kitchen, was added later, and the porch was enclosed. The house museum features period furnishings. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places and is a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark. Barriers: inaccessible to those with disabilities.
