Holocaust Memorial Museum of San Antonio
The Holocaust Memorial Museum of San Antonio opened its doors in 2000; an effort by San Antonio's Jewish community to provide public record of one of the 20th century's greatest tragedies and to supplement San Antonio schools' education units focused on World War II. Exhibits trace the steps that led to the extermination of European Jews in Nazi concentration camps, explore American reaction to and involvement in World War II events in Europe, and recount the stories of Holocaust survivors who settled in San Antonio after the war. In the museum's private courtyard, a contemplative area memorializes those who perished during the Holocaust.
