Historic Aviation Memorial Museum in Tyler
The Historic Aviation Memorial Museum pays tribute to the pioneers of flight and the patriots who were instrumental in the advancement of aviation in the 20th Century. The museum is active in its collection, preservation and display of aviation memorabilia and aircraft for the education and benefit of the public. Oral histories from veterans from East Texas are being collected. Recently, the museum expanded into the North Terminal Building at the Tyler Airport which is the former airline terminal. This move doubled the exhibit space for aviation items and memorabilia of the 20th Century, enlarged the gift shop and library, added a multimedia theater room, and provided additional educational programs. Restoration projects are in the hangar facility along with hangar space for the flying aircraft.
