Built in 1914 as a Vaudeville theater to serve the bustling Waco community, its opening night featured a live seal and a magic act.
After a 1928 fire destroyed much of the building, it was rebuilt in 1929 as a cinema in the Spanish Colonial Revival style — characterized by a light-colored façade, clay tile roof, rounded archways, cast stone ornaments such as columns and window surrounds, and metal grates over the windows.
Although it fell on hard times in the later decades of the 20th century, it has been renovated and now offers in-theatre movie dining and a mezzanine restaurant and bar overlooking Austin Avenue.
