Hill County Cell Block Museum
Lakes Trail Region
120 N Waco St
Hillsboro, TX 76645
The jail was built some distance from the actual courthouse, as customary in the early 20th century, preserving the positive image of the “temple of justice” by keeping the incarcerated in a separate facility. Notice the castle-like details on the building, common for jails of its period. The sheriff’s family lived in the front part of the structure, with the cell blocks, kitchen, and offices in the rear.
Though visitors can view the building from the outside, the Cell Block Museum is currently closed for renovations until further notice.
