Henderson Civic Theatre is a 501(C)3 non-profit community theater operating in the 1885 Opera House in historic downtown Henderson. The performance space was built in 1885 as an opera house, but has been used over the years as many different things. In 1918, it was used as a general mercantile store, and in the 1930s, the second story was partitioned into offices. HCT purchased the building in 1986 and began to renovate it for use as a theatrical venue. In 2013, the theater purchased the adjacent building and added it to the performance complex, allowing the addition of workshops and meeting space to the theater’s offerings.
The theater schedules five major performances each season from August through July, with additional children's company performances, workshops, and other activities.
