Historic Catholic churches in Texas' Hispanic communities are often accompanied by plazas. Since churches frequently served as community centers in the 20th century, it was common for there to be an outdoor area nearby for social gatherings, like Hebbronville Plaza outside the Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish. The plaza features a gazebo in the Spanish Colonial Revival architectural style, and several stucco benches around it. On the North Hickory Ave side of the plaza is Cristero Coffee, a charming cafe inside a repurposed historic stone building, designed to reflect the style and history of the Franciscan Catholic influence on Hebbronville.
