H.E.A.R.T.S. Veterans Museum
REMEMBERING AND HONORING
Huntsville’s H.E.A.R.T.S. Veterans Museum staff estimate we are losing a significant number of World War II veterans every single day. Therefore, the Museum was created for and about veterans to honor and remember them. Its acronym is an abbreviation of its mission – “helping every American remember through serving”. Launched in 1994, the Museum strives to educate the public about the sacrifices our veterans have made to insure our freedoms and to inspire patriotism in proceeding generations. It also provides a place that veterans can join together and discuss their experiences in the hope that healing may take place for those traumatized by the horrors of their time on the battlefields. The Museum maintains an extensive collection of artifacts and exhibits exploring the history of our wars and provides an overview of every department and aspect of the American military force. The Museum also participates in parades, homecomings, and Memorial Day celebrations, encouraging a bond between veterans and the local community.
