Housed in Georgetown’s historic Fire Station One, the large doors — once portals for the fire engines — open wide to make an excellent gallery space.
The building is laid out interestingly with a façade on Main Street and 9th Street. On the corner a stand pipe (or water tower) once stood. Today the stand pipe is no longer present, but a splash pad has been put in its place for children to enjoy.
This is a fine example of adapting an old building to a creative new use. It has maintained the overall character using storefronts with the same fire station garage door appearance for the new businesses.
