Fort Duncan was established in 1849 after the Mexican War to protect American settlers living near the border. More than 50 years later, in 1911, Lt. Benjamin Foulois and Phil Parmalee would make history here - and prove that airplanes could be used for military purposes.
Today, Fort Duncan houses a museum that recounts the history of the Mexican War and American settlement of Texas.
