Fort Clark
Pecos Trail Region
Fort Clark had a long and colorful history as a US Army post on the Mexican border.
Troops were garrisoned here to defend against raids from Comanche and Apache Indians, as well as Mexican bandits.
But during the Great War, Fort Clark made a major about-face. The horrifying new killing methods of the war forced the Army to quickly strengthen its Medical Corps - and four hospital and ambulance companies operated here.
