Fort Boggy State Park lies between the major routes of the El Camino Real de los Tejas and the Old Spanish Trail in East Texas. During the late 19th century, this region was a key travel corridor. Buffalo Soldiers would have used these routes for travel between posts, for escort duties, or when going on leave or returning home after enlistment. Today, Fort Boggy State Park offers a tranquil patchwork of pineywoods and post oak savannah with a 15-acre lake. Explore the trails for hiking and mountain biking and stay overnight at cabins or primitive hike-in campsites.
