Durst-Taylor Historic House and Gardens

The Durst-Taylor House was built circa 1835, during the tumultuous days of the Texas Revolution. It is the second-oldest house in Nacogdoches – and was once the home of Joseph Durst, the “rebel mayor” during the infamous Fredonian Rebellion. It is a rare surviving home from the Revolutionary period in its original location.
The Durst-Taylor Historic House & Gardens is open to visitors, and features a fully functioning smokehouse, blacksmith shop, chicken coop, heirloom gardens and a sugarcane mill.
