Housed in the historic 1906 Artesian Manufacturing and Bottling Company building, this “home of Dr. Pepper” is not its birthplace. The first Dr. Pepper was stirred up at Morrison’s Old Corner Drug Store in 1885. Back then it was called a “Waco.” After it became a success and was renamed, the developers established the Artesian Manufacturing and Bottling Company.

The 3-story building is constructed in the Romanesque Style, characterized by massive and heavy, large archways as well as large stone elements like voussoirs, which is a wedge shaped element used in building an arch. These particular voussoirs were once humorously described by the Houston Chronicle as “framing the doors and windows like the out-of-control eyebrows of white-haired philosophers.”
