This ambitious urban project marks the spot where Dallas was founded in the 1840s and was intended to honor the city’s earliest residents. A WPA project, it was built between 1934 and 1940 to create a new “front door” for Dallas.
The city’s most-visited heritage site, Dealey Plaza Historic District, is also a National Historic Landmark.
