Cooke County Courthouse
Elements of both Beaux-Arts and Prairie School style are present, particularly evident in the stained glass dome. The architects were clearly influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright and Louis Sullivan.
When studied from the square, the shape of the courthouse gives the building visual weight and density, while the tall tower establishes the town center for miles around. The tower acts as a heat chimney, pulling hot air out the top of the building and keeping the interior cooler during hot Texas summers.
The Cooke County Courthouse was restored through the Texas Historic Courthouse Preservation Program. It is listed on the National Register of the Historic Places.
