Comal County Courthouse
Hill Country Trail Region
100 North Seguin Avenue
New Braunfels, TX 78130
James Riely Gordon designed 15 county courthouses that were built in Texas. He developed a unique cross-shaped plan used here in his characteristic Romanesque Revival style. Because of its unusual location relative to the plaza, the courthouse’s northeast entrance is rarely used. The exterior walls of the 1898 structure are of native limestone with a rusticated finish and are complemented by cut-stone lintels.
The Comal County Courthouse was restored through the Texas Historic Courthouse Preservation Program and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
