Rising from the spacious Runnels County Courthouse lawn is the Charles H. Noyes Monument. Created in 1919 by famed Italian sculptor Pompeo Coppini, the life-sized bronze statue depicts a horse beside a young Noyes, a rancher’s son who died in a range accident and is dedicated to the "Spirit of the Texas Cowboy." The base of the monument consists of three pieces of solid Texas granite taken from Burnet County's Granite Mountain near Marble Falls.
