Commissioned in 1909, the Caples building partially served as a headquarters and temporary residence for leaders of the Mexican revolutionary government, including Francisco Madero and Francisco “Pancho” Villa. Though currently unoccupied, national recognition of the building’s historic value encouraged the installation of onsite historic markers in support of local preservation efforts.
