Buckhorn Saloon and Texas Ranger Museum

Bohemian immigrant Wenzel Friedrich, a cabinetmaker by trade, found that the horns of the cattle could make exquisite furniture. Word of the furniture’s quality spread to Europe: Queen Victoria, Otto von Bismarck, and Kaiser Wilhelm I were all customers of Friedrich’s. Many of the pieces were displayed for years at the Buckhorn Saloon, which Friedrich’s son, Albert, opened in 1881. The Buckhorn Saloon today features two museums: The Texas Ranger Museum, with its collection of revolvers, badges, and other artifacts; and the Buckhorn Museum, which holds more than 520 species of wildlife from around the world.
