Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum
Immerse yourself in Texas history at the Bullock Texas State History Museum. A floor mural just inside the museum entrance depicts a cattle drive campfire scene, with the words: “Born around the campfires of our past. The story of Texas.” On the Bullock’s website, the mural is interactive, allowing visitors to engage with the stories of unheralded Texans throughout history: African-American soldiers, vaqueros, American Indians, and women who served as Air Force pilots. Much of the museum’s ranching stories and artifacts reside on the third-floor gallery, where visitors can explore the myths and legacy surrounding the cattle drives, cowboys, and the resulting beef industry.
