Located in the heart of downtown Bastrop, the Bastrop County Historical Society Museum & Visitor Center seeks to provide travelers and community members with history and cultural events that reflect the vibrant heritage of Bastrop County.
Whether you are new to Bastrop or a long-time local we have the information and history you're looking for. Our award-winning Museum transports you through the history of Bastrop County including the Camino Real, the Texas Revolution, coal mining, one of Texas’s most destructive wildfires, a World War II training camp and the Godfather of Texas himself, the Baron de Bastrop. After touring the Museum, stop by the Visitor Center to pick up one of our walking tours of Bastrop to learn about our Historic Homes, the historic Downtown area or famous films shot in Bastrop County.
