African American Museum in Denton County Historical Park
Lakes Trail Region
This three-room former residence of Dr. E.D. Moten, Denton’s first African American physician, is preserved as a museum to tell the story of Quakertown, a freedman community named after the Quakers who aided people who escaped enslavement through the Underground Railroad. This house was bought and restored as a museum to document the removal of Quakertown’s population from its original location.
