Start your day in Brackettville at Fort Clark Springs, a former frontier military post established before the Civil War and active through World War II. Today more than eighty original buildings remain, offering visitors a rare opportunity to experience an intact historic fort landscape. As you explore the grounds, you’ll find shady live oaks, historic officers’ quarters, and the spring-fed pool that has long made this place an oasis in Southwest Texas. The grounds offer hiking, biking, camping, bird watching, and much more.

Be sure to also visit the Old Guardhouse Museum to learn about the important contributions of the Buffalo Soldiers and the Black Seminole Indian Scouts to our military history.

Before beginning the afternoon, it's time to fuel up! For something different, check out Lotus Thai Cafe in the heart of downtown Rocksprings. Known for its fresh food, quality, and excellent service, this restaurant is worth the stop.

After lunch plan a stop at the Texas Miniatures Museum to see a large collection of dollhouses and furnishings from 1900 to the present. The museum is directly across the street from the Historic Rocksprings Hotel on West Austin Street.

After a full day of exploring, head into downtown Rocksprings for dinner at the Jailhouse Grill & Bar. Known for hearty comfort food and friendly service, it’s a favorite local stop and the perfect place to relax after a day on the road.
