Living History Week
Get ready for some time travel: Texas Living History Week is May 7-13! At Texas Historical Commission sites across the state, you can step back into history. During May 7-13, in conjunction with National Travel and Tourism Week, tours and hands-on activities will demonstrate how Texans of the past spent their daily lives at these state historic sites.
From ornate Victorian mansions to everyday inns, frontier forts to 20th-century leaders’ homes, there’s a state historic site to fit every interest.
While you’re traveling through Texas’ past, don’t forget the thriving present! Many heritage travel destinations are near historic downtown districts, where you can dine or shop at local businesses that make their communities unique.
You can make a full day of it! Check out the living history events at your favorite state historic site, then visit other heritage sites and attractions, have a meal in a unique local restaurant, and stay the night at a historic hotel or B&B. Come to think of it ... maybe you should make it TWO full days!
