Museum on Main Street Traveling Exhibition (Crossroads: Change in Rural America)
August 24, 2024
Seven rural Texas communities have been selected by the Texas Historical Commission to host a travelling Smithsonian exhibit that takes a close look at the evolution of rural America in the last century.
San Augustine's local exhibit is a true testament to the community's dedication to preserving and sharing their heritage and history. Featuring a collection of artifacts generously loaned by members of the public, the exhibit offers an intimate look into the lives of those who have called San Augustine home across generations. Personal heirlooms, historic documents, and domestic items reflect the town’s rich history through the everyday lives of its citizens and offer a deeper understanding of the traditions, challenges, and triumphs that have shaped the town over centuries.
Free parking is available all around the courthouse square and the downtown area. Look for parking along W. Main in front of the Courthouse, both sides of South Harrison Street, both sides of West Columbia Street, and both sides of S. Broadway Street.
The sidewalks along Main Street are raised, however, there is a wheelchair ramp located at the corner of S. Harrison and E. Columbia Street.
