The Historic Jefferson railway recreates the 19th century as they take you on a narrated 30 minute round trip along the Big Cypress Bayou.This antique train is a restored gas-powered Plymouth Locomotive built in 1964. The open-canopied observation cars offer a great view from every seat. The 40-minute excursion takes you along the Big Cypress Bayou. Along the way, passengers can view the only remaining Confederate powder magazine from the civil war era, the first artificial gas plant in the state, as well as other historic sites and scenic views of the wetlands and wildlife. As you move through the Piney Woods, hear the history of Jefferson and the story of the remains of many sites from the 1800’s still visible along the track.
