Ranching heritage looms large on the Stamford town square at the Cowboy Country Museum. The museum offers insight into the history of Stamford and Jones County with displays of historic photos chronicling the growth of Stamford from it's founding in 1900, along with family heirlooms such as a chuck wagon, antique furnishings and period clothing. Stamford has been home to the Texas Cowboy Reunion Rodeo since the early 1930s, and the museum showcases several trophy saddles and rodeo programs.
