GAIN A TREASURED MEMORY

A successful, long-term preservation program for our historic places often guarantees an engaging heritage tourism experience, especially in a First Lady’s Texas Treasures community. First Lady Anita Perry in partnership with the Texas Historical Commission has been honoring the ingenuity, hard work and stewardship of Texas cities that realize how precious their cultural and historic legacies are to residents and the state since 2009. Popular destinations for tourists, such successful efforts to preserve the state’s diverse legacies provide visitors with an enduring appreciation of historic downtowns, archeological resources, monuments, battlefields, buildings, heritage programs, cemeteries, museums, and landscapes. Each unique, each telling a different Texas story, each a Texas Treasure.
